Sunny Meed has 5 permanent doctors and is host to doctors training to become GPs who spend either a year (registrar) or 4 months (foundation year doctor/specialist training doctor) at the surgery gaining experience in primary care work. They are all qualified doctors who have had a number of years experience working in hospital.
There is a formal ‘handover’ process in place for all doctors who leave the surgery at the end of their training placement.
Dr Paul Vincent Rankin – Male, MB BCh (Belfast 1987), BAO, DGM MRCGP
A full time principal and senior partner, undertaking all aspects of general practice work and is a GP trainer.
He is responsible for the training and supervision of registrars at the practice. He is also lead for minor surgery and undertakes both ‘liquid nitrogen’ clinics and minor surgery clinics (including joint injections) for patients registered on a weekly basis. He is named lead for clinical and information governance (Caldicott guardian), data controller and is the registered manager for CQC purposes at the practice.
Dr Sara Gil Rivas – Female, MBBS (London 1994) MRCGP DCH DRCOG DFFP Cert Diabetes (Warwick)
A full time principal at the practice undertaking all aspects of primary care work.
She is lead for diabetes and safeguarding. In addition to being prescribing lead she also represents the practice at CCG level and as a clinical supervisor Dr Gil Rivas oversees teaching and training junior doctors who are gaining experience of working in general practice, and leads on teaching and training of staff.
Dr Dhrushil Patel – Male, MB BS (Kings College London 2010) BSc (Hons) MRCGP
A full time partner undertaking all aspects of GP clinical work at the practice with lead roles in operations and logistics, workforce development, palliative care and workflow. Dr Patel is also a clinical supervisor of junior doctors carrying out their training placements in general practice and is presently doing his PGCERT, soon to become a GP educator.
Dr Roopinder Brar – Female
A GP who undertakes all aspects of clinical work, working on Tuesdays and Fridays at Sunny Meed surgery. She is a permanent member of the medical team and undertakes coil fittings (and removals).
Dr Sadia Hoque – Female
A GP who undertakes all aspects of clinical work, working on Wednesdays and Thursdays at Sunny Meed surgery. She is a permanent member of the medical team.
Dr Komil Sarwar – Female
A GP who undertakes all aspects of clinical work, working on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at Sunny Meed surgery. She is a permanent member of the medical team.
